€110,000 for a 27-year-old G-Wagen?
For the right example, absolutely.
Before the G-Class became a luxury fashion statement, Mercedes-Benz built something rather different: a proper off-road machine with a V8, a ladder-frame chassis, three locking differentials and an unmistakable silhouette.
This 1999 G500 Short Wheelbase represents an increasingly difficult configuration to find.
A naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8, automatic transmission, permanent four-wheel drive and the compact three-door body that disappeared from the modern G500 range.
No enormous screens. No unnecessary technology. Just engineering, mechanical character and a design that has barely aged.
Why the SWB?
Proportions.
The short-wheelbase G-Class has a character the five-door cannot replicate. Compact, purposeful and remarkably capable, it feels closer to the original Geländewagen philosophy.
And while modern G-Wagens are everywhere in certain neighbourhoods, an original V8 SWB is a much less common sight.
The example pictured:

Approximately 188,000 km
White exterior, black leather interior
Japanese auction grade 3.5
€100,000 is collector-car territory. At that level, originality, mechanical condition, corrosion history and documented maintenance matter considerably more than a polished exterior.
The appeal isn't simply that it's old.
It's that Mercedes-Benz no longer makes this particular combination.
